Azerbaijan, Baku, May 6 / Trend T. Hajiyev /
"Azerbaijani women worked to ensure the future of our people on the front and rear during World War II," Azerbaijani State Committee for Family, Women and Children head Hijran Huseynova said today at a conference on the role of women on front and rear during WW II.
"During the war, more than 50 percent of industry workers were women. President Ilham Aliyev holds WWII veterans in high esteem. It is no coincidence that he signed a decree granting veterans one-time financial aid," Huseynova said.
Board Member of the Council of Veterans, Major-General Bahadur Huseynov shared his military memories with the participants of the event.
Meanwhile, MP Hadi Rajabli lauded the dedication of Azerbaijani women in wartime.
Journalists who have written articles and essays on the role of women in winning WWII were awarded at the end of the event.
