Baku will host international conference on media self-regulation in the first decade of September. The decision was taken at a meeting with participation of Programme Manager of the OSCE Office in Baku Jacqueline Carpenter and Chairman of the Azerbaijani Press Council Aflatun Amashov, the Council told Trend.
A decision was made to hold two round table meetings August 12 and at the end of the month to prepare for the conference.
In March, the OSCE's office in Baku and the Press Council launched the project to support initiatives for defamation, journalistic professionalism and improve the situation in the sphere of observance of professional ethics by the media. The main objective of the project is to prepare a draft law on defamation and submit it to the parliament, as well as improve standards of professional ethics of journalists.
