Azerbaijan marks the World Bird Watching Day and the World Animal Day, the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry reported on Monday.

Azerbaijan established the Wildlife and Rehabilitation Clinic Center in the Altiagac national park to protect the environment and biodiversity in the direction of solving environmental problems. The main purpose of the center is to rehabilitate animals illegally deprived of their habitat, and species of birds, and prepare them for their return to the natural environment. To date, dozens of animals had already been returned to the wild after they have undergone rehabilitation. The center keeps the endangered and rare species of animals under the semi-artificial conditions, and works on their recovery and returning to the wild. Over the past period, the center released to the wildlife dozens of animals with the participation of the public.

The Shirvan National Park held a workshop in connection with the study and protection of animal and bird species. The event was attended by specialists of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry, NGO representatives and scientists.

Oct.3 is celebrated as the World Bird Watching Day at the initiative of "Birdlife International" and Oct.4, - World Animal Day.
