The Azerbaijani Military Prosecutor's Office filed a criminal case on a military plane crash in the country, spokesman Afraim Tahmazov told Trend.
The employees of an Azerbaijani Military Prosecutor's Office investigative group are conducting expertise at the crash site and collecting the remains of the aircraft, Tahmazov said.
An Azerbaijani SU-25 warplane crashed on Thursday in the Kurdamir regıon of Azerbaijan, head of Press Service of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry Eldar Sabiroglu told Trend.
According to him, the crew is safe and has not been wounded. Also no one was wounded when the plane fell to the land.
Currently the causes of the event are being investigated.
Trend could identify in military sources the names of pilots of the plane: they were Lieutenant-Colonel Zaur Yusifli and Captain Khayyam Shukurov.
According to the initial version, the accident occurred during landing.
A Trend special correspondent reported from the scene that the crash site has been cordoned off, and employees of the military prosecutor's office work on the scene.
The plane crashed 5-6 kilometers from the residences in the village of Sor Sor.
The Press Service of the Military Prosecutor's Office told Trend that the head of Heinous Crimes Investigation Department, Jafar Jafarov, investigators, criminologists and representatives of the Terter Military Prosecutor's Office are working on the scene.
Kurdamir is located at about 180 kilometers from Baku.
