State Committee: Guardians must present report in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, July 23 / Trend K. Zarbaliyeva /

The State Committee for Family, Women and Children proposed guardians to present the report.

It is necessary for guardians in Azerbaijan to present a report, as guardians from abroad, deputy head of legal department of the state committee Elgun Safarov told Trend.

He said that the committee proposed to present the reports within five years.

Safarov said there is no specific age requirement for people wishing to become guardians in the Azerbaijani legislation. The law only specifies that the guardians must be older 16.

Safarov said that mainly U.S. and French citizens apply to the committee. He finds it necessary to conclude bilateral agreements in this area with Israel and Turkey in the future.

The children, who are Azerbaijani citizens, may be adopted by foreigners only with the consent of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children.
