The Anti-Corruption Agency under Azerbaijani Prosecutor General has considered the Press Council's appeal on the Gundəm xeber newspaper, which the Council included on a "black list".

The Press Council requests to take action against the publication in connection with the negligent attitude toward individual privacy, dispersing information violating honor and dignity, and continually violating "Rules of the professional journalism ethics".

The Gundəm xeber newspaper founder, Shirin Jafari, violated the law "On mass media" and did not compile with the requirements of tax legislation. The taxpayer did not carry out the necessary calculations for calculating taxes, did not maintain accounting records in accordance with the law, did not indicate publication circulation numbers, and violated tax regulation rules, hiding 68,000,244 manat from tax agencies, the Prosecutor General's Office told Trend today.

According to facts, a criminal case was filed against Jafari under Article 213.2.2 and 308.1 of the Criminal Code for significant Tax evasion and abuse of office.

The case is currently under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Agency.
