Azerbaijan, Gabala, Sept. 8 / Trend M. Aliyev /
Azerbaijan and Moldova will discuss joint environmental projects, Moldovan Environment Minister Gheorghe Salaru told media.
He said future joint projects in the environmental field will be discussed at a forthcoming meeting with Environment and Natural Resources Minister Huseyn Bagirov.
"We intend to share experience in pesticide destruction," minister said. "For example, we have taken out of Moldova nearly 2,000 tons of pesticides and destroyed them at 11 storehouses since 2007."
The main issue is how to manage obsolete pesticides in the future and to reveal the areas for further joint actions in Eastern Europe, Caucasus, Central Asia, minister said.
"Unfortunately, pesticides in the former Soviet Union were used very widely and rashly," Salaru said.
Moldovan Environment Minister takes part in the International Pesticides Forum in Gabala on September 7-9.
