A bill granting additional rights to Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, recommended to Parliament.
The meeting of the Committee of the Parliament of Azerbaijan on security and defense was held on Thursday.
The bill on amendments to the "Charter of the guard and garrison duty of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan." was discussed at a meeting held under the supervision of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Chairman of the parliamentary committee on security and defense Ziyafet Askerov.
According to the amendment, proposed in the first paragraph of Article 5 of the statute, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan and members of the National Preventive Group may at any time, freely and without prior notice to visit the garrison guardhouse and meet with the inmates, to examine the documents confirming the legality of their custody.
Commissioner for Human Rights has also granted the right to make appropriate recommendations to garrison guardhouse and receive answers to them in due time.
After discussions, the new bill was recommended for approval by the Parliament of Azerbaijan.
