"Baku, where a sportsman representing Russia was born, has been indicated as a Russian city," vice-president of Azerbaijani National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseynzade told Trend today. "The error occurred in the computer database of the Organizing Committee for ХХХ Summer Olympic Games, opening in London today."

"The organizing committee of the London Olympics has indicated the cities of the former USSR, where the sportsmen were born in Soviet period, as the Russian territory because the USSR was not indicated in data base," he added. "Now they correct the mistakes."

The organizing committee was informed of any inaccuracies and errors, he said.

"The organizing committee of Olympic Games officially apologized for the mistake," he said.

"Our sportsmen are in good mood," he said. "They are ready for the competition."

Azerbaijani sportsmen will first perform tomorrow.

Official opening of the XXX Olympic Games in London will begin at 01:00 Baku time on July 28.
