Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov.13 / Trend V.Zhavoronkova /
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Baku State University (BSU) signed a memorandum of cooperation on master's program at the Law Faculty of the university in 2013-2014 academic year.
The memorandum was signed by USAID Azerbaijan Mission Director, Michael Greene and BSU Rector Abel Maharramov.
The memorandum envisages cooperation in the preparation of master's program, development of a curriculum, etc.
The program will be implemented within two years.
The first students will be admitted in the autumn of 2013, and education will be in English.
USAID issued a grant to its partner American Bar Association to provide technical support to BSU.
In his speech during the signing ceremony U.S. ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar said that he was very glad to be here.
"This is very exciting morning because of the signing of memorandum. There are no subjects that can be more important for Azerbaijan than this issue," Morningstar said.
Morningstar said he was excited by the program because of many reasons.
"One of them is long-term work in the energy sector and cooperation with Azerbaijan," he said.
Morningstar added that students should learn more than a law. "Law is important but not enough," he said.
