Turkey has increased the fines for violating traffic rules, Turkish online newspaper Bugun said on Wednesday.

According to the newspaper, road traffic law earlier stated if a car did not stop at a stop line, it was fined 67 Turkish liras, while now it is increased to 650 lira.

The newspaper also reported that drivers will have to use winter tyres. The penalty for non-use of winter tyres for the first time will hit 319 lira, for a second time - 638 lira.

Previously if drivers did not give way to a pedestrian they paid a fine of 154 lira and according to the new law, it will be 319 lira.

The official exchange rate is 1, 7773 TRY/ 1 USD on Dec. 5.
