Security measures have been strengthened in Istanbul and other major Turkish cities in connection with the New Year celebrations, Dunya newspaper said on Sunday.
Specially created groups of police will patrol the most crowded places during the holidays.
The operation time of the subway and buses will be extended till midnight.
In addition, monitoring of restaurants and other entertainment facilities was held in order to identify poor quality food and beverages.
