In Turkey each day, 173 industrial accidents take place, four of which are fatal, Cihan agency quotes assistant head of Safety and Labour Protection Department of the Labour and Social Protection Ministry Ismail Gerim as saying on Monday.
He said 76 per cent of industrial accidents occur in enterprises of small and medium sized businesses. He also stressed that in Turkey dozens of new cases of occupational diseases are identified annually.
Gerim stressed that the country is preparing a new bill on the insurance sector. By fulfilling the measures envisaged by the bill, fatal accidents at work should be reduced to 98 per cent. The document also envisages reducing cases of occupational diseases to 70 per cent strengthening the control over the observance of safety in the workplace, he said.
