Minister: Jordan, Azerbaijan to develop joint project in tourism field

Jordan and Azerbaijan intend to develop a joint project in the tourism sector to attract more tourists from both countries, the Minister of Culture of Jordan Barakat Avazhan told Trend.

Jordan and Azerbaijan intend to develop a joint project in the tourism sector to attract more tourists from both countries, the Minister of Culture of Jordan Barakat Avazhan told Trend.
"The countries are to address the issue of a joint project in the field of tourism which aims to increase the number of tourists from Jordan to Azerbaijan and vice versa," Avazhan said.

The minister said the project will be submitted to the governments of the two countries in the near future.

"During the visit to Azerbaijan, we became acquainted with its rich historical culture and realised the country is the centre of historical tourism. The country should attract more tourists to familiarise themselves with the values of Azerbaijan," Avazhan said.

In 2012, the flow of tourists to Jordan increased by 12 per cent taking the number to 11 million visitors.

As for the exchange of students between Azerbaijan and Jordan, according to the minister the country achieved a lot in this direction. Azerbaijani students are educated in Jordan, and Jordanian students are enrolled in educational institutions in Azerbaijan.

Jordan and Azerbaijan are soon going to implement a number of exchange programmes.
