Iran unveils new technologies in 3rd day of military drill

Tehran, Iran, May 25
By Milad Fashtami - Trend:

Iran unveiled three new technologies at the third day of Army's Ground Forces military drill in the central province of Isfahan, code-named Beit ul-Muqaddas 26.

A smart tactical command and control system dubbed Basir (Insightful), a 122mm portable cannon, and new communication equipment are the mentioned technologies, Iran's IRIB News Agency reported on May 25.

The new technologies are all built domestically.

Basir can collect information from passive and active radars, including military and non-military, observation posts, missile systems as well as adjacent control and command centers.

It can also present a comprehensive and detailed picture of the area under its command, and act independently with regard to the operation and control of ground-launched and air-launched air defense systems.

Among other features of Basir are high mobility plus capabilities to be deployed on rugged terrain, thwart cyber attacks, use exclusive microwave networks and state telecommunications systems, in addition to intercepting and destroying its targets.

Iran previously unveiled a radar system called Matla-ul-Fajr (Breaking Dawn).

The military exercises code-named Beit ul-Muqaddas 26 started on Friday with the test-firing of indigenous Nazeat and Fajr (Dawn) 5 missiles, Press TV reported.

On the second day of the maneuvers on Saturday, infantry, mechanized, armored and artillery units backed by the Islamic Republic of Iran Army Aviation conducted pre-planned operations aimed at destroying mock enemy targets.

Deputy commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Forces for operations, Brigadier General Ali Mehrabi, said that the Iranian Army's Ground Forces managed to achieve all pre-planned objectives in the drills.

According to the commander, the second stage of the drill covered an area of 180 square kilometers due to the type and vastness of the operations.
Mehrabi said the Ground Forces also used different types of drones, including Mohajer (Immigrant) and Sepehr (Sky) unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as reconnaissance and combat helicopters to improve the operational capability of the drills.

The Beit ul-Muqaddas 26 military drills mark the anniversary of the liberation of the southwestern city of Khorramshahr during the eight-year imposed war with Iraq.
In recent years, Iran has made major breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.

Iran has also conducted several military drills to enhance the defense capabilities of its armed forces and to test modern military tactics and equipment.

The Islamic Republic has frequently announced that its military might poses no threat to other countries, stating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
