Armed incident occurs on Iran-Azerbaijan border

An armed incident took place on the Iran-Azerbaijan border, the Azerbaijan interior ministry said August 7.
A group of people attempting to illegally cross the state border of Azerbaijan from the territory of Iran was prevented, the statement said. The attempt was prevented as a result of operative-investigative actions carried out in the territory of the Jalilabad district by the representatives of the Southern Regional Department of the Main Office on Combating Drugs and the Goytepe border detachment of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan.
The offenders retreated following the armed resistance.
Some 4 kilograms 425 grams of opium were found and seized as a result of the inspection.
