General prosecutor’s offices of Azerbaijan and Turkey continue joint efforts to identify the ties of representatives of Fethullah Gulen’s Hizmet movement in Azerbaijan with its supporters in Turkey, Zakir Garalov, Azerbaijani prosecutor general, told reporters Oct. 1 in Baku.

Earlier, General Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan sent an appeal to the prosecutor general of Turkey in accordance with the European Convention to conduct an investigation in Turkey to identify the connections of the Hizmat movement’s representatives in Azerbaijan with its supporters in Turkey and other foreign countries, its funding sources and other details.

In the near future, head of the criminology department of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan will visit Turkey, where the cooperation on this issue will be continued, said Garalov.

Earlier, General Prosecutor’s Office, Interior Ministry and State Security Service of Azerbaijan created a joint operative investigation group as part of the criminal case initiated Aug. 12 for investigation and prevention of illegal acts of promoting the Hizmet movement in Azerbaijan, the incitement of social, religious hatred and enmity, and restriction of the rights of citizens.

An Istanbul court released an order for Gulen’s arrest on Aug. 4.
