The Republican Seismic Survey Center of Azerbaijan (RSSC) of Azerbaijan's National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) has begun to study the problem of induced seismicity in the Takhta Korpu reservoir, RSSC told Trend on Nov. 28.
RSSC noted that the research work, jointly with Russian scientists, will be carried out within two years.
"Similar research is planned to be conducted with Italian specialists in the Mingachevir reservoir," the center said.
The induced seismicity is caused by a number of factors, which, as RSSC said, can be reflected in the transfer of energy to other seismic centers.
Modern equipment is used while conducting research, which allows studying induced seismicity depending on the operating conditions of the reservoir (filling and emptying water).
