Russian spectator in Baku: I came to watch performances of famous gymnasts

The mascot Luigi, the monkey, brings joy to the public, spectator Anastasia Lykova, who came from Krasnodar (Russia) to watch the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Baku, told Trend.

“It is my first time in Baku. The city is beautiful and clean. I came here to watch the performances of famous gymnasts. I am cheering for the Russian team, I wish the gymnasts victory. I also root for Italian sportswomen Milena Baldassarri and Alexandra Agiurgiuculese. I am glad that Milena showed good results in exercises with a ball today," she said.

Anastasia Lykova noted that she liked the opening ceremony of the European Championships, which she said was beautiful.

"The mascot Luigi the Monkey brings joy to the public," she added.

The 35th European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships will last until May 19. During the four-day championships, senior female gymnasts will perform in the individual program, while junior gymnasts will participate in the group exercise program. Athletes from 35 countries are taking part in the championships.

Azerbaijan is represented by Zohra Agamirova and Veronika Hudis in the individual program, and a team consisting of Madina Asadova, Laman Alimuradova, Seljan Hajizade, Milana Akbarova, Farida Safiyarzade in group exercises.
