BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 26

Trend:

The next, 7th meeting of the tourism ministers of the countries participating in the Turkic Council will be held in Azerbaijan, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan Fuad Naghiyev said, the state agency told Trend.

He noted that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the past year was difficult, including the tourism sector.

"The end of the 30-year Armenian occupation by the Azerbaijani army under the leadership of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces is of great importance not only for Azerbaijan but also for the region. Most of the places in Karabakh with tourist potential have been destroyed by the occupiers, and restoration work has already begun in these territories. Soon the world will know about Karabakh as a new regional tourist destination," Naghiyev said.

Direct flights between the capitals and cities of the Turkic-speaking countries will contribute both to the development of tourism and economic and trade relations.

As part of the meeting, Naghiyev held a number of bilateral meetings with representatives of the delegations of the countries participating in the Turkic Council.

During the meeting, issues such as measures to revive tourism, cooperation in the post-pandemic period, joint projects, and areas of activity were discussed.
