BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 22. First day of the 9thFIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup competitions started at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku on April 22, Trend reports.

Qualifying competitions in the individual program will be held today - the graces will demonstrate exercises with a hoop and a ball. There will also be a qualification of teams in group exercises, which will present a program with five hoops. Based on the results of the qualification, the finalists will be determined.

According to the registration list, 130 athletes from 31 countries, including 42 individual and 84 group gymnasts (14 groups), will take part in the 5th international competition in gymnastics disciplines hosted by Azerbaijan from April 22 through April 24, 2022.

Our country will be represented in the individual program by Arzu Jalilova and Zohra Aghamirova, while Gullu Aghalarzade, Laman Alimuradova, Kamilla Aliyeva, Zeynab Hummatova, Yelyzaveta Luzan and Darya Sorokina will perform within the team in group exercises.

During the three-day competitions, gymnasts will compete in the All-Around and apparatus finals. Traditionally, AGF Trophy Cup will be presented to the gymnast and team in group exercises that received the highest execution score from the judges at the World Cup.

This will be the 9th Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup held in our country so far. Azerbaijan's capital hosted the World Championships and 8 World Cups in 2005 and 2019 in this discipline.

It should be mentioned that after a two-year break, spectators will be able to watch the competitions at National Gymnastics Arena due to easing measures under a special quarantine regime.

People participating in the competitions as spectators must have a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate or immune certificate, a certificate of contraindications to COVID-19 vaccine except for people under the age of 18.
