BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 26. Strict quarantine regime introduced in Azerbaijan in connection with COVID-19 pandemic has caused great damage to tourism and the hotel business, Chairman of Executive Board at DAİR Hotels and Restaurants Association, Executive Director of Azerbaijan Ecotourism Association (AzETA) Samir Dubendi told Trend.

According to him, number of hotel bookings in Azerbaijan has increased since the beginning of 2022 compared to the same period last year.

"There has been a revival in hotel business in Azerbaijan since the beginning of this year, compared to the previous two years. Main reason for this is easing of the quarantine regime. However, this does not mean a complete restoration of the local tourism sector. The tourist inflows into country still haven't reached the pre-COVID-19 levels. We hope the situation will improve," Dubendi said.
