According to the Cuban President's publication on social network X, the statement of Alfonso Dominguez, who defeated his rival Julio César La Cruz on points, is honest, dignified, and impressive.
“Remarkably, he respects the country that raised him,” the publication reads.
The publication also notes that Cuba rejoices at the victory of the athlete representing brotherly Azerbaijan.
To note, Dominguez defeated the two-time Olympic champion with a score of 3:2 (29:28, 28:29, 29:28, 27:30, 29:28).
