The meeting of the working group on human rights, comprising the state bodies and human rights defenders, will take place in mid-September, a member of the working group chairman of the Milli Mejlis Permanent Commission on legal policy and the state building Ali Huseynov told Trend.

The amnesty issue will not be discussed at the next meeting, В"as we have already voiced our attitude to the proposal of human rights activists on the amnesty.

The amnesty law may be passed at the Parliament, and the Parliament is currently on the eve of the elections. The amnesty issue may be studied at the Parliament which will be formed after the elections”, Ali Huseynov said.

At the meeting of the working group all issues related to the human rights are discussed. There are discussions in regard of persons, called “political prisoners”, the incoming complaints are considered. В"We do not consider these persons “political prisoners”. We investigate the cases of persons the Council of Europe names “political prisoners”.

We think the issue went beyond the political context; the Council of Europe has also supported and approved setting up this working group. The decision was taken for the problem of political prisoners to find its solution inside Azerbaijan”, Ali Huseynov said.

Certain results have been achieved in the solution of this issue. This working group is engaged in strategic matters in regard to the human rights, it has no powers to free persons, called the political prisoners.

As for the term of the working group’s activities, the deputy said, this cooperation will continue till the problems related to the human rights are solved. В"On the whole, the cooperation between the non-government organizations and the authorities’ representatives is important.

Even if the activities of this working group ceases, we will continue cooperation with the human rights organizations but in another plane”, Ali Huseynov noted.
