The Azerbaijani Anti-Torture Committee sent an official address to the Central Department for Execution of Court Sentences (CDECS) under the Justice Ministry in relation to negative facts, revealed during the monitoring conducted n prisons in Baku during March, Trend reports quoting Elchin Behbudov, the chair of the Committee.

Some negative moments related to keeping conditions were revealed in prisons 6, 11, 15 1 and the Gobustan prison as a result of monitoring, conducted by the Committee during March.

Rafig Ramazanov, the head of the Public Relations Department of CDECS, said some prisoners knowingly gave false information to law-defenders. Nevertheless, in all cases we study information to take appropriate measures, he added.

Ramazanov regarded the complaints of the issue of low-quality bread in the Gobustan prison as baseless. Every prisoner must receive 700 gr of bread from first-rate flour and 100 gr of 2nd one. Several employees of CDECS were dismissed and made answerable due to appropriation of products, but provision of prisoners with products is under full control at present. Complaints by several prisoners do not mean mass dissatisfaction, Ramazanov stressed.
