A press conference was organized by the totals of the first year of Public Televisions activity (PTV) in Azerbaijan, at the conference was speaking Ismail Omarov, PTVs General Director.
Trend reports quoting Omarov, despite the low funds originally issued to the channel (some $1mln), PTV started broadcasting 18 hours a day. В"This is an outstanding performance in Azerbaijans historyВ", - Omarov said, stressing that the main accent in PTVs broadcasting is made on spiritual and moral values of Azeri nation and education.
В"We are far from policy, which recognize both the government and oppositionВ", - Omarov stated, adding that due to PTV forgotten representatives of Azerbaijans intelligentsia returned to public. For example, movies were made about Khudu Mamedov, Firuddin Kocharli, Nabi Khazri, Ziya Bunyatov, Bakhtiyar Vahabzaeh, etc.
PTVs chairman said also last time the company purchased equipment at $3mln to provide a high-quality broadcasting.
Omarov said PTV is government-financed till 2010, then passes to self-financing. РіРѕРґР°, already today, he said, the channel has Azerbaijans best news service with 10 news releases a day, and Yekun program (Totals) planned to issue in English. В"50-60 thousand expatriates reside in Azerbaijan and PTV works to cover this social group as wellВ", - Omarov said.
Alongside, he stated, one of priority-driven activities is preparation of programs and releases about national minorities residing in Azerbaijan. The main problem of the channel, Omarov said, is lack of intellectual games and talk shows.
At the moment PTVs correspondent offices operate in Russia, the US, France (Strasburg); in the closest time one more representation is opening up in Turkey.
