The Azerbaijans human rights watcher (ombudsman) Elmira Sumeymanova received Roman Huna, expert of General Directorate with the Council of Europe (РЎР•) and manager of Azerbaijans penal system reformation project, Trend reports with reference to Ombudsmans Administration.
Mr Huna informed the ombudsman on aims and objectives of the project directed to upgrade of penal system, local legislation tailoring to international standards, convicts conditions improvement and so on. He said the project is the component of CE program for penal system modification and ombudsmans role in it is quite significant.
Having informed the guest of the work ombudsman institution performs in this sphere, Suleymanova said 7 acts of grace and 40 pardons have been announced and 135 convicts have been amnestied upon ombudsmans addressing the head of state. Ombudsman also performed with in incentive to lead trainings for policemen.
