On October 16, during the court session on the criminal cases of the former senior official of the Head Investigation Department of the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry Haji Mammadov and the criminal group headed by him, the former Chief of the Head Investigation Department of the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry, Zakir Nasirov provided evidence. The court session on the cases of Mammadov and his group comprising of 25 persons, is held in the Court of Heinous Crimes of Azerbaijan under the Chair of Judge Ali Seyfaliyev, Trend reports.
Nasirov stressed that he will never forgive himself that a person such as Mammadov worked in the department under his management. I am responsible not only for juridical cases but also to retain a moral attitude. My biggest fault is that I have employed Mammadov as the Head Commissioner. The offender for my current prosecution is Mammadov's nephew, Elchin Aliyev. During the investigation, Mammadov signed for money in my name and split it with Aliyev, Nasirov stressed.
In addition, he underlined that he was not dismissed. He was in fact released from work after a personal appeal to the President on March 16 2005.
