Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / A number of NGOs of Turkey require that the Atomic Energy Station Mesamor in Armenia should be closed. For this reason, the NGOs have addressed an appeal to the Health Minister of Turkey, Rajab Akdag. The appeal says that over the recent ten years, nearly 150 wrecks have happened in the station and according to the standards of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mesamor takes the final place in ensuring the security.

Armenia had undertaken liability to terminate the activities of Mesamor while joining the Council of Europe in 2001. However, over the recent years, Mesamor has expanded its activities and provides electricity to Iran and Georgia. Located in 16 km from Turkish border, Mesamor presents danger for the region, life and health of population.
