Rise of Water Level in the River of Kur Causes Danger to Salyan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. E.Mammadov / Flood, heavy rain and melting in the Araz River caused the rise of water level at the lower reach of the River Kur.

The settlements along the river bank in Salyan and Neftchala may be contaminated by sewage.

At present, the speed of the river in the region of Sabirabad is 1,300 cu m per sec and 950 cu m per sec in Salyan.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (ESM) sent necessary equipment to its 21 member team in Salyan.

In 2005 as a result of the rise in the water level of the River Kur, many houses in Salyan were flooded.

Salyan is located 115km south of Baku.
