New Agreement on Joint Environment Protection to be Signed between Azerbaijan Georgia
Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynli / Azerbaijan and Georgia is to sign a new bilateral agreement on joint environment protection, the head of the International Co-operation Department of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Ecology
According to Aliyev, an environment protection agreement was signed between Azerbaijan and Georgia in 1997. However, due to the fact that the agreement did not encompass all issues, it was necessary for a new agreement to be made.
Aliyev noted that the new agreement will include all aspects of environmental protection and strategic co-operation will be established on this basis. The water treatment in the Kur River will be reflected in the agreement as well.
Georgia suggested signing the agreement to take place in Tbilisi. Arrangements for the agreement are presently in progress which will be submitted to corresponding ministries. The development of the documents will be completed by July.
