Explosions in Two Iraqi Minarets Aim to Create Conflict Amongst Muslims: Head of the Centre for Protection of Conscience and Religious Freedoms

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend E.Huseynly / The explosions in two Iraqi minarets aim to create conflict amongst Muslims, said the Head of the Centre for Protection of Conscience and Religious Freedoms (DEVAMM), Ilgar Ibrahimoglu. He called on all supporters of Islam, especially Muslims of Iraq to become vigilant. According to Ibrahimoglu, the Muslims should demonstrate patience in such a complicated situation.

"The authors of this action wish to increase the tension amongst Muslims and thus, achieve the collapse of Iraq. It is clear that the explosions have been made not by Muslims, but appointed forces. The graves of Imams which were blown up were sacred for Muslims," he said.

According to Ibrahimoglu, the responsibility for the explosion should be taken by the Bush administration because the US is liable for ensuring security in Iraq. "I think that the people can resolve their problems themselves if only the foreign military and political forces would leave Iraq," he underlined.

The explosion took place in the morning of 13 June in the Iraqi city of Samira. There is not yet exact information on the victims.
