Person Accused of Homicide of Head of Police Department sentenced to Three Years of Imprisonment

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Zarbaliyeva / The sentence on the case of Azerbaijani Ganja residents accused of homicide of the head of the Ganja City Traffic Police Department has been announced. By the decision of the court the deed of Zabit Kazymov was considered as homicide caused by carelessness. Kazymov was sentenced to three years of imprisonment. Parviz Mammadov , accused of hooliganism was released from the court hall.

Zabit Kazymov was accused of murdering the head of the traffic police department, while Parviz Mammadov was accused of violating public order. In accordance with the accusation, in 2006 from the 21st of September to the 22nd of September Ikram Khalilov stopped the car of Zabit Kazymov . Kazymov got out of the car. A conflict occurred between the head of police and the civilian. Kazymov punched Khalilov, and the head of police collapsed. Stated Parviz Mammadov , who was an eye-witness of the incident. The victim was taken to hospital; however, it was a fatal outcome.

Forensic medical examinations revealed that the cause of death was head trauma.

The prosecutor sentenced Kazymov to fifteen years imprisonment, and three years for Mammadov .

Notably, the Judge failed to read the sentence till the end, and was required to immediately exit the hall, due to the extreme violent behaviour portrayed by the relatives of Khalilov.
