Huseynli / Eight perceptible earthquakes and 165 earth tremors were already registered in Azerbaijan in 2007, the Deputy Director of the Republican Seismological Centre of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Gurban Yetirmishli, reported on 20 June. According to Yetirmishli, perceptible earthquakes occurred in the regions of Guba, Lankaran, Yardymly, Shaki, and Ganja city, but did not cause any destruction.
Yetirmishli noted that the level of seismic activity in 2007 exceeded the index of 2006. Six perceptible and 657 light earth tremors were registered in 2006.
