Azerbaijan Submits Technical Agreement to Russia on Mutual Broadcasting of Channels

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. E.Huseynli / Gafar Jabiyev, an official of the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council, has stated that Azerbaijan has developed an agreement and submitted it to Russia regarding the technical implementation of mutual broadcasting channels of both countries.

According to Jabiyev, Russia will submit similar agreements to the Azerbaijani Task Group during the third meeting in Moscow. Jabiyev noted that the technical agreement developed by the Azerbaijani Task Group envisaged a range of broadcastings of the Azerbaijani channel on the Russian territory. The Azerbaijani Task Group included in the agreement all items of interest to Azerbaijan. Members of the Russian Task Group will return to Moscow on 24 July.

The project of the agreement on 'Rules and conditions of broadcasting TV programs between Azerbaijan and Russia' was signed by the Task Group in Baku on 23 July. The project consists of 11 articles. The Azerbaijani delegation will visit Moscow after Russia completes the technical agreement.

In compliance with the decision made by the Council in January, the broadcasting of the Turkish STV, the Russian ORT and RTR channels should be terminated from 10 July. Broadcasting of ORT was suspended, whilst the term for broadcasting of RTR was extended for a month. Broadcasting of RTR-planet channel will be terminated should the agreement not signed by 10 August.
