Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. E.Javadova / The appeal of Haji Mammadov, the former senior official of the Investigation Department, who has been sentenced to life imprisonment, and the members of his group, each sentenced to various years in prison, will be reconsidered in the Baku Appeal Court on 20 August. Judge Rasul Safarov, will chair the trial.
The preparatory hearing of the appeal of Mammadov and the members of his group was held in the Appeal Court of Azerbaijan under Judge Shahin Yusifov in 15 May. The consideration of the case was postponed due to reforms held in court system of the country. Shahin Yusifov was appointed as Chairman of the Military Collegiums of the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan after which time he was removed from the case.
In compliance with the decision of the Court, Mammadov was sentenced to life imprisonment and his property confiscated.
