BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 31

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

The use of IT visual investigation tools is gaining popularity in Azerbaijan, Nikolay Vasilyev, manager for the development of the VAS analytical tool at Belarusian IBA Group (based in Minsk), told Trend on Aug. 31.

According to Vasilyev, visual analysis tools are relevant for the financial sector, banks, insurance companies, and large corporations.

"They help fight unscrupulous clients, fraudsters, and even their own dishonest employees. The results of investigations of complicated situations are displayed on the screen in the form of understandable graphs," he added.

The company’s representative stressed that thanks to such IT tools, the work of security personnel, who previously had to manually identify all suspicious cases that came into their field of vision, becomes automated.

"It’s difficult to detect hidden objects and connections between them by manual methods of analysis. Visualization helps to find them: the program builds an image on which all non-obvious relationships are shown on one screen. Thus, it minimizes errors and increases the speed of considering one case," said Vasilyev.

He also noted that a number of companies from Azerbaijan are showing interest in analytical tools. Besides, according to him, the implementation of such IT products takes several months.

“CIS countries started practicing the use of analytical tools. For example, the VAS analytical tool was tested in one large Belarusian insurance company. As a result of testing, the company identified a shortage of mandatory insurance premiums and stopped fraudulent payments,” the expert further said. “It’s not always possible for specialists to quickly identify fraud and prove all the relationships. Hence - losses lost profits and image losses. Analytical tools help insurance companies automate this work and fight various gray schemes in a few clicks.”

Vasilyev added that visual analysis tools allow combining many diverse databases, data from which will be used for investigation. As an evidence base, specialists can use their own previously accumulated information, as well as information from open sources or other databases.
