BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 5. POS-terminals are most often used in Azerbaijan by the population of such cities as Baku, Ganja, Sheki, Shamakhi and Yevlakh, Visa representative office in Azerbaijan told Trend.
According to the representative office, local entrepreneurs note such positive aspects of cashless payments as attracting customers who pay with bank cards, transparency in banking, as funds are immediately transferred to a bank account, and contactless payment when the cashier and the buyer do not need to touch to cash.
The turnover on payment cards through ATMs and POS terminals increased in 1Q2022, in Azerbaijan, over the year by 1.3 billion manat ($764.7 million), or 41.6 percent - up to 4.4 billion manat ($2.6 billion).
The number of payment cards reached 11.7 million for 1Q2022 in Azerbaijan.
