BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 11. The main goods exported from Spain to Azerbaijan in 2021 were electrical equipment, iron and steel, machinery and mechanical devices, clothing, ceramics and pharmaceuticals, the Spanish Secretariat of State for Trade told Trend.
According to the secretariat, in the reporting year, the export of Spanish products to Azerbaijan grew by 129 percent - up to 80 million euro (compared to 35 million euro in 2020 and 68 million euro in 2019).
"Spain imported Azerbaijani products worth 590 million euro, which is 15 percent more than the previous year. In 2020, Spanish imports amounted to 531 million euro, and in 2019 - 648 million euro," the secretariat said.
Besides, according to the secretariat, the Spanish imports from Azerbaijan mainly accounted for fuel and oil (98 percent). The purchase of Azerbaijani crude oil increased significantly from 2007 through 2014, and its current import value remains at a stable level of 500-600 million euro.
Spanish companies in Azerbaijan mainly operate in the textile retail, hotel business, architecture, consulting, insurance, gas transportation and some other sectors, added the secretariat.
In 2021, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Spain recovered to the pre-COVID-19-pandemic level.
