BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 17. Azerbaijan's electricity production from January through February 2023 amounted to 5.176 billion kW/h, Trend reports, citing the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan.

According to the operational data, the volume of electricity produced in the country increased by 5.8 percent, or 282.3 million kW/h, year-on-year.

The ministry noted that, only in February 2023, the production of electricity jumped by 82.5 million kW/h, or 3.5 percent, year-on-year, amounting to 2.417 billion kW/h.

In the reporting period, electricity production at Azerbaijan's thermal power plants increased by 313.7 million kW/h year-on-year, totaling 4.998 billion kW/h.

At the same time, hydropower plants in the country increased their output by 33 million kW/h - up to 121.6 million kW/h.

On other sources (WPP, SPP and Solid Household Waste Incineration Plant) the electricity production grew by 1.54 million kW/h, amounting to 56.5 million kW/h. Mainly, 9.1 million kWh of electricity was generated at WPPs, 8.4 million kWh at SPPs, and 39 million kWh at the solid household waste incineration plant.

Meanwhile, in total, over 28.988 billion kWh of electricity was produced in the country in 2022 (an increase of 4 percent). Exports accounted for more than 3 billion kWh of electricity, while imports - 137.1 million kWh of electricity.
