BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 15. The retail trade turnover in Azerbaijan grew by 3.1 percent from January through March 2024 compared to the same period in 2023 and reached 13.4 billion manat ($7.8 billion), Trend reports.
According to the information, the turnover of food, beverages, and tobacco products increased by 1.8 percent (to 7.5 billion manat ($4.4 billion)) and non-food products by 4.9 percent (to 5.9 billion manat ($3.4 billion)).
Based on the data of the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, in the reporting period of 2024, the population spent 51.1 percent of its funds on food products, 4.9 percent on beverages and tobacco products, 15.1 percent on textiles, clothing, and footwear, 5.4 percent on motor fuel, 4.5 percent on electrical goods and furniture, 2.3 percent on pharmaceutical goods and medicines, 1.3 percent on computers, and 15.4 percent on other non-food products.
During the reporting period, the value of goods sold by economic entities in the non-state sector increased by 3.3 percent compared to the indicator of 2023 and amounted to 99.8 percent of the total retail trade turnover.
The average monthly per capita retail trade turnover in Azerbaijan amounted to 440.9 manat ($259.2), including turnover of food, beverages, and tobacco products - 246.8 manat ($145), and non-food products - 194.1 manat ($114.1).
To note, the turnover of retail trade in Azerbaijan increased by 3.7 percent in 2023 compared to the same period in 2022 and totaled 58.9 billion manat ($34.6 billion). The turnover of food, beverages, and tobacco products increased by 2.5 percent (to 33 billion manat ($19.3 billion)) and non-food goods by 5.2 percent (to 26 billion manat ($15.2 billion)).
