BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 7. As anticipation builds for COP29 in Baku, the UAE has unveiled an ambitious program for its presence at the climate summit, showcasing its commitment to advancing global climate goals, Trend reports.
Abdulla Al Balalaa, UAE’s Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainable Affairs, shared details of the UAE’s engagement, which will feature a national pavilion and host over 60 events and dialogues aimed at fostering meaningful progress in the global climate agenda.
“COP29 represents a crucial moment in our shared climate journey," Al Balalaa said. "It marks a year since the UAE Consensus laid the groundwork for limiting global warming to 1.5°C, and it brings us closer to new commitments as countries prepare to submit their climate transition plans. The UAE is committed to ambitious collaborations that drive the energy transition forward, supporting Azerbaijan's leadership in hosting this pivotal event."
The UAE Pavilion, themed “Accelerating Action Together,” will be located in the Blue Zone and serve as a hub for discussions on key climate issues, featuring a lineup of government officials, industry experts, academics, and youth leaders. The pavilion’s programming will address a diverse range of topics, from mobilizing climate finance for the Global South and supporting hard-to-abate sector decarbonization to exploring AI’s role in food and water security. Other discussions will cover partnerships in climate initiatives, such as AIM4Climate and the Mangrove Breakthrough, as well as plans for the 2026 UN Water Conference, which the UAE will co-chair with Senegal.
The UAE Pavilion will also highlight significant milestones, including the legacy of COP28 and achievements under the UAE Consensus. With a strong focus on biodiversity, food and water resiliency, and circular cities, the pavilion aims to inspire collaborative solutions for a climate-resilient future.
