Number of permissions granted for construction increases in Georgia

In 2019, 10,749 permissions were issued in Georgia for construction of buildings of 7.55 million square meters (21.7 percent more compared to 2018), Trend reports referring to Georgian National Statistical Office (Geostat).

This is 5.3 percent more compared to 2018.

It should be noted that 71.1 percent of the total permits have been issued in three regions of the country: 48.8 percent of the construction works located in Tbilisi, 11.7 percent - in Adjara region and 10.6 percent in Kvemo Kartli region.

In particular, the permissions were issued for the construction of multifunctional residential complexes, hotels, trade facilities, industrial enterprises, agricultural objects and other buildings.

The multifunctional residential complexes hold the relatively large share of the permissions granted.

Over half of the scope of completed construction is distributed in three regions of the country: 34.7 percent accounts for Tbilisi, 14.1 percent - for Kakheti region, and 9.6 percent - for Kvemo Kartli region.

In total, 2,508 objects (0.4 percent less than in 2018) of 2.54 million square meters (21.8 percent more compared to 2018) were completed in 2019.
