Tbilisi and Batumi International Airports Operator TAV Georgia is increasing the total investment in Batumi International Airport Expansion Project to $17 million, Trend reports via Georgian media.
As reported, foundation laying work has been completed in the flight zone and reinforced concrete works are underway, which include the arrangement of columns and roofing.
Excavation works are underway to arrange the departure zone. The foundation laying work of the luggage zone has been completed. Communication networks are also being upgraded in the passenger terminal to arrange new fire safety systems.
Infrastructure works will be completed by the end of February 2021.
Upon the project completion, the capacity of Batumi International Airport will be doubled. From 2021, Batumi International Airport can serve 1.2 million passengers a year.
