Georgia sees increase in Construction Cost Index

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 27

Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

The Construction Cost Index (CCI) in Georgia has increased by 5.2 percent in 4Q2020, compared to the preceding quarter, Trend reports referring to the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The change was mainly due to a 9.8-percent increase in average monthly nominal wages of employees in the construction sector, which contributed 2.76 percentage points to the total index change.

Compared to 4Q2019, the CCI increased by 5.7 percent. The latter was largely caused by the 9.3-percent increase in the prices for construction materials, which contributed 5.12 percentage points to the annual index change, respectively.

The Construction Cost Index increased by 4.2 percent in 3Q2020 compared 2Q2020, due to a 15.6-percent increase in average monthly nominal wages of employees in the construction sector, which contributed 3.94 percentage points to the total index change.

Compared to the third quarter of 2019 the CCI increased by 1.8 percent.

The latter was largely caused by the 6.3 percent increase in the prices for construction materials, which contributed 3.49 percentage points to the annual index change.
