World Bank to Support Development of Azerbaijani Beekeeping

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Khalilova, A.Badalova / World Bank is ready to render financial assistance for development of the Azerbaijani beekeeping, Aslan Aslanli, the deputy Agriculture Minister, said at the opening ceremony of the republican exhibition of beekeeping production in Baku on 26 September. Pieter Thompson, the leading economist of the bank, has expressed will to support development of the beekeeping production in Azerbaijan.

"I hope Azerbaijan to become the member of the International Beekeeping Association by support of international organizations," Aslanov said.

Some 350 housing enterprises have been created within the framework of the 'Agricultural development of mountain regions' of the International Fund of Agricultural Development, nine of them were envisaged for development of beekeeping and livestock breeding

Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry renders assistance to beekeeping in Azerbaijan. A range of projects were developed by the assistance of the UN on beekeeping production.

Some 300 beekeepers from 55 regions and cities of Azerbaijan will attend at the exhibition scheduled for 30 September. Totally 3,000 people are engaged in beekeeping sphere in Azerbaijan. Presently, there are some 105,000 bee families in Azerbaijan.
