Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 February / corr Trend I.Khalilova / The World Bank is prepared to finance the project on rehabilitation and expansion of water treatment station in Hovsani, directed at cutting unrefined sewerage water in the Caspian Sea, WB's Baku Office reported. These actions will be taken within the framework of the second phase of the new ecological development program in Azerbaijan.
The WB allocated a $152mln loan for the first phase.
The sewerage water treatment measures in Hovsani were launched at the state loan of the French bank. At present, re-equipment with French technology is carried out in the aeratic station and it will enable to treat the sewerage water in the sea. However, additional fund are required to lay longer pipe for throwing sewerage water to the sea depth and WB is prepared to undertake financing for the same.
In accordance with the international ecological norms, the depth of the sea water is capable of self-treatment. Under the WB's project, it is planned to lay an additional pipe in the sea, in a distance of 5km to 9km from the coast.
The cost of the project is still to be defined. It will be known after the development of a feasibility study and conduct of the relevant.
The initial budget of the project is estimated to be $60mln.
