Baku Metro to Obtain 36 New Carriages in 2008

Azerbaijan, Baku, 24 March / Trend / The Baku Metro is expected to obtain 36 new carriages in 2008. The supply of the carriages will be carried out within the framework of the contract with Russian Metrovagonmash Open Joint Stock Company signed this month.

A new underground station Nasimi is expected to be put into operation in 2008. Furthermore, the new carriages will enable to lessen the intervals traffic working.

According to the Russian company, the carriages of 81-717.5Б and 81-714.5Б models will be sent to the customer in line with the contract.

The first 10 carriages envisaged by the very contract are scheduled to be sent to the Baku Metro in April 2008 and the remaining part will be sent until the end of 2008.

It is worth mentioning that the previous supply of the underground carriages was carried out in 2007. The Baku metro was supplied with a total of 25 carriages.

Mitishinski plant supplies the tube stock of Baku Metro for more than 30 years. The carriages constructed in the plant located near Moscow makes up 80% of the depot.
