Grain Production to Climb Up in Azerbaijan’s Region

Azerbaijan, Lankaran, 20 May / Trend corr P. Aliyeva/ This year the grain sown area in the Bilasuvar region in Azerbaijan totalled 24,000 hectares, which is by 1,400 hectares more than in 2007, Rafael Guliyev, deputy head of the Bilasuvar Administraiton, said.

According to Guliyev, last year grain production amounted to 60,000 tons and this year to 70,000 tons.

"Now we are preparing for harvest. There are 81 combine harvesters in the region, with 10 of them owned by an agricultural technical service enterprise and the rest by private owners," Guliyev said.

The region requires 90-95 harvesters. Lacking machines are usually brought from Jalilabad region if necessary.

Bilasuvar's sown area totals 44,000 hectares.
