Azerbaijan, Baku, 27 August /corr. Trend U.Ismayilova / The Azerbaijan Insurers Association determined a preliminary date of a general meeting, which will elect the new chairman of managing board of the association, deputy chairman of the managing board, Jamil Melikov, a candidate to the chairman position, said on 27 August.
"The next general meeting will more likely take place on 22 September. The election was delayed because of the summer holiday," Melikov said.
Earlier Kamal Ibrahimov, the present chairman of the managing board of the association, stated that delay of Melikov's appointment to the chairman post of the board was linked with the international forum of insurers held in July.
The 1st Azerbaijan International Insurers Forum organized by the Azerbaijan Insurers Association was held in Baku on 10-11 July 2008. The forum was held by the support of the Finance Ministry of Azerbaijan.
Melikov said following his appointment as the chairman of the board, the tendency of holding of annual international forums of insurers, as well as development of insurer schools will be continued.
"I cannot say about other plans, as the association is a collective business and new ideas will be produced by all its participants," Melikov said.
Melikov's election as the chairman of the board is provided for the Association's regulations, in accordance with which five Azerbaijani Insurance Companies (M BASK, Standard Insurance, International Insurance Company, Azersigorta, Ateshgah) enter the board of observers. The first meeting of the board elected the General Director of Insurance Company Standard Insurance, Kamal Ibrahimov, the first chairman of the board of and his deputy was chairman of board of Insurance Company MBASK Jamil Melikov.
Each of five members of the board of the Association of Azerbaijani insurance companies will be the chairman of the association by turns in a year.
The Azerbaijani Insurers Association, which unites all five acting companies enter, was founded in December, 2006.
